One small blog post, one giant leap for the registry services industry

I first came into the registry services industry nearly 10 years ago. Whilst that may not seem very long, if you consider that at the time the iPhone hadn’t been invented, apps didn’t exist, and nobody was ordering groceries online, it feels like an eternity.

In the pre-iPhone world, the registry services industry was quite at home – paper based, complex legacy systems, and communication that was sent by Australia Post. And yet while the world around us has changed dramatically over the last decade, the registry services industry has remained in the past.

Why is that?

To be honest I don’t think anyone really noticed. Each registry provider offered similar services and like for like pricing so there was minimal difference and no driving force for change. Registry services is one of those things that is often deemed as a dull necessity and as such never invites much thought or imagination, which is interesting when you consider that the registrar is directly looking after your shareholders….customers.

Not only has there been a lack of diversity in the industry, registry providers have not shifted very far away from the prehistoric world of postal mail and manually driven systems, which is an astounding concept.

It’s time for a change.

Our vision is to change the way business is done. By leading with technology, we will realise the potential of the registry services experience and give our clients access to the insights and information they’ve been waiting for, when they want it. Instead of focusing on us, we’re going to be accountable for delivering value and bring this industry into 2016 and beyond.

This blog is going to be a part of that journey. We will share our insights on the industry, financial markets, technology, and offer guidance for those wanting to explore. We’ll also invite guest bloggers from around the country and globe so you’ll get different perspectives on topics that affect you and your business.

It’s not often you get to be a catalyst for change, so I’m excited about the opportunity that lays ahead and look forward to you joining us on the ride.
